Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of DiscreetCareers. By accessing or using our website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using DiscreetCareers, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy and any other policies referenced on the site. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform.

2. Who Can Use Our Platform

You must be at least 18 years old to use DiscreetCareers. By using this site, you confirm that you are 18 or over and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. User Accounts

  • You may create an account to apply for jobs, save listings or post jobs.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
  • You must provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Use of Our Platform

You agree to use DiscreetCareers only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:

  • Use the site for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
  • Post false, misleading or fraudulent content
  • Harass, abuse or harm other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the platform

5. Job Seekers

When applying for jobs, you agree that all information provided is true and accurate. We are not responsible for the actions or behaviour of employers. Always use your own discretion and follow our safety advice.

6. Employers & Job Posters

You agree to provide accurate job information and treat candidates with respect. You must not post illegal, misleading or discriminatory adverts. We reserve the right to remove any job posting or employer account at our discretion.

7. Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited:

  • Illegal services or activities
  • Non-consensual, abusive or exploitative content
  • Scams, phishing or attempts to collect personal information
  • Any content that promotes hate, violence or discrimination

We will report illegal content to the relevant authorities.

8. Intellectual Property

The site itself — its design, layout, text, graphics, logos, icons and software — belongs to us or is licensed to us, and is protected by UK copyright and trade mark law. You are welcome to read, print and share our pages for your own personal use. Beyond that, you must not:

  • Copy or republish substantial parts of the site elsewhere
  • Scrape, harvest or bulk-download listings by any automated means
  • Use our name, logo or branding without our written permission
  • Remove or obscure any copyright or ownership notice
  • Reuse our content to build or supply a competing service

Anything youupload — your job advert, profile, CV, photos or messages — stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to host, display and share it as needed to run and promote the platform, and you confirm that it is yours to post or that you have the owner’s permission. That permission ends when you remove the content, apart from copies held in routine backups until they are overwritten.

If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, get in touch with the details and we will look into it and remove anything that should not be there.

9. Ending or Suspending an Account

You can leave at any time.Close your account from your account settings, or ask us and we will do it for you. Your profile stops appearing to employers, and we stop sending you marketing. We keep some information afterwards only where we are legally required to — our Privacy Policy explains what and for how long. Closing your account does not cancel anything you already owe or already agreed to.

We may suspend or remove an account too. We do not do this lightly, and the usual grounds are:

  • Breaking these terms, our Content Policy or our 18+ Policy
  • Posting false, misleading or fraudulent job adverts
  • Charging candidates a fee to apply, or requesting money upfront
  • Harassing, threatening or abusing another user
  • Suspected illegal activity, or activity we are required to report
  • Giving us false information, or being under 18
  • Trying to gain unauthorised access, scrape or disrupt the platform
  • Repeated complaints from other users that we find to be well founded

Wherever we reasonably can, we will tell you what the problem is and give you the chance to put it right. Where there is a risk to someone’s safety, or content is illegal, we will act immediately and without notice. A suspension is temporary while we look into something; a termination is permanent, and we may decline to let that person register again.

If you think we have got a decision wrong, contact us and ask for it to be reviewed — we will look again and explain our reasoning. Sections that are meant to outlast your account — intellectual property, liability, governing law — continue to apply after it closes.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

DiscreetCareers is a job board. We introduce candidates and employers to each other — we are not the employer, agent or representative of anyone who posts a job here, and we are not a party to any agreement you reach with them.

We take reasonable steps to check listings and to remove those that break our rules, but we cannot guarantee that every advert is accurate or that every user is honest. The platform is provided on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis: we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that content is complete and up to date. Please follow the advice in our Safety Centre — it is there for good reason. In particular, we are not responsible for:

  • The conduct, decisions or acts of employers or other users
  • The accuracy of job adverts or any other user-supplied content
  • Loss or harm arising from meetings, work or arrangements made through the site
  • Downtime, technical faults or loss of data outside our reasonable control
  • Anything that happens because our safety guidance was not followed

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you use the site as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business, opportunity, income or data; and our total liability arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you have paid us, if anything, in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Resolving Disputes

If something goes wrong, please tell us first — most problems are sorted out quickly and informally. Contact us with your account details and what happened. We aim to acknowledge every complaint within five working days and to give you a full response within thirty days.

Disagreements between users— for example between a candidate and an employer about pay, hours or conduct — are ultimately between those two parties, and we cannot arbitrate or enforce an outcome. We will still investigate any breach of these terms, take action on the accounts involved, and provide records where we are legally required to do so.

If we cannot resolve a dispute between us, you are free to take it to court (see the next section). Nothing here prevents you from contacting the police, Acas, HMRC or any other appropriate authority at any time — and if anyone’s safety is at risk, please contact the police first.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or out of your use of DiscreetCareers — including non-contractual disputes and claims — are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the law of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts where you live. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

13. Changes to These Terms

We update these terms from time to time — when the law changes, when we add or retire a feature, or simply when something needs to be clearer. The current version always lives on this page, with the ‘Last updated’ date shown at the top.

For minor changes— wording, formatting, corrections — updating that date is the only notice we give. For material changes, meaning anything that meaningfully affects your rights, your obligations or how we handle your account, we will give reasonable advance notice: a notice on the site and, where we hold an email address for you, an email to your registered account. Where it is practical to do so, that will be at least fourteen days before the change takes effect.

Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you would rather not, you can close your account (see section 9) before that date. Ask us and we will send you a copy of the previous version.
